Daily Tour: Tirana – Berat
Discover one of Albania's most enchanting destinations on this full-day tour from Tirana to Berat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. Often called the "City of a Thousand Windows," Berat is considered one of the most beautiful and well-preserved Ottoman cities in the Balkans.
The journey to Berat is made in a comfortable car or minivan, depending on the group size.
Our first stop is the Berat Castle, the largest in Albania, which is still inhabited by local families. Wander through its ancient stone alleys, admire panoramic views of the Osum River valley, and enjoy the charm of traditional houses built inside the fortress walls.
During the visit, we will stop in a typical local home, where you can enjoy a cup of Turkish coffee or a glass of homemade raki while hearing the family's personal stories – a unique opportunity to connect with local life and traditions.
Next, we descend to explore the historic neighborhoods of Mangalem and Gorica, both part of the UNESCO designation. With their iconic architecture, narrow cobbled streets, and cultural atmosphere, these areas tell the story of centuries-old coexistence.
In the afternoon, we head to the Pupa family winery to taste some of Albania's finest wines, made from autochthonous grape varieties native to the region. A guided wine tasting will introduce you to the rich and evolving tradition of Albanian winemaking.
After this delightful experience, we return to Tirana in the late afternoon, carrying memories of Berat's beauty, history, and warm hospitality.
